Kite Day is a great way to celebrate the spirit of playfulness and freedom that kites bring. The day commemorates the end of winter and the beginning of summer, as well as the approaching harvest season. It is said that kites are meant to symbolise the spirits of the gods that are awaking from their deep winter sleep. While kite refers to a light frame covered with a thin material and flown in the wind at the end of a length of string, Indians engage in kite flying to represent patriotism, independence, fun, and patriotism.
